Notes from the Principal:

Stallions!

This is going to be a fantastic school year! Our goals for staff and students are to build relationships and work to become a Trauma-Sensitive School Let’s start with making our drop off and pick up process safe, smooth, and satisfying for all. Please stay aware of cars and  children during drop off and pick up times. Pull all the way up to the drop off line, instead of dropping off right at the kitchen door. This will keep cars moving and out of the street. We want everyone to arrive and depart safely.

Remember that breakfast does not start until 7:25 A.M. and we stop serving at 7:50 A.M. The first bell rings at 7:55 A.M., and we dismiss students to class. The tardy bell rings at 8:00 A.M. Please make sure your child is here on time to eat breakfast and get to class, but do not drop students off before 7:25 A.M. The bell rings at 3:15 for children to go home, and we exit and move to the west side of the building. Students must be picked up on time!  Cars are not allowed in the west parking lot during the pick-up time, and should be parked along Ash, Jackson, or one of the side streets. You do have the option of joining the after school program if you have a need to pick up later. To apply for the After School Program, go to the Boys and Girls Club building on Elmdale Street or call 717-4900 for information.

Please come to Orientation Night on Tuesday, August 21st. We have two sessions scheduled. The first one starts at 5:00 P.M. and the second session starts at 6:00 P.M. There will be a brief message from the principal, in the gym, between 5:45 and 6:00… Please come on time so as not to interrupt a presentation in progress.

Our PTO works miracles for Sheridan staff and students! Join now and become a part of the group that makes great things happen here for kids! You may wish to take an active role, or prefer to provide support in the background, but all help is welcomed, appreciated, and needed to continue our pattern of success!

Notes from P.E.

Hello Sheridan Families!

I hope you had a great summer! Welcome to Sheridan Elementary Physical Education! My goal is provide students with daily exercise, motor skill development, new recreational experiences, and social-emotional skill development.  We will provide a safe and enjoyable environment for students to build muscle and brain power.  I just want to remind you to make sure that all students have appropriate gym tennis shoes for class. This enables us to take better care of our school and, more importantly, your      children. If your child does not have a pair of tennis shoes/gym shoes, please contact me and I can work with you on getting a pair for your child for class. Thank you!

Notes from the Library

Welcome Back!

How about a fresh new book?  Our library just received new books guaranteed to stir your interests including new Harry Potter books to replace our tattered ones… Would you like to learn about extreme sports?  How about reading a book on how to survive a natural disaster?  Or perhaps you could curl up with a good book on piranhas!  Yikes!  There are some pretty weird animals out there.  Did you know you can read about how horses view the world? There are a couple of new series…Hocus Pocus Hotel and Library of Doom! These are just a few of our new books…something for everyone!  Visit Sheridan Library and make exciting reading choices of your own!
